Lonely Wendy struggles on

-

AMID reports that Wendy Williams was taken to a hospital for a mental health check this week, a source told Page Six she is lonely and continues to struggle with her health.

A spokesperson for the NYPD told The Post’s Francesca Bacardi Thursday that they received a call at 8:43 a.m. Tuesday requesting an ambulance to transport a 57-year-old woman residing at Williams’ Manhattan address for a psychiatric evaluation. The patient was taken to Beth Israel hospital, the spokesperson told us.

The Sun newspaper reported the unidentified woman was Williams. Her rep didn’t return Page Six’s request for comment.

Meanwhile, a source told Page Six of the famed talk show host: “It has been a very difficult time for Wendy. She’s a single woman with very few friends. She lost her marriage, her mom, and is living alone.” The source added, “There is a lot on her plate.”

Williams’ daytime talk show was expected to premiere its new season on Monday, but it was pushed back to Oct. 4 due to her health problems. Last week, the “Wendy Williams Show” host skipped her promotional duties for the new season because of “ongoing health issues.” And Williams’ alleged psychiatric hospitalization came one day before her show announced that she tested positive for a “breakthrough case of COVID-19.”

Williams has been open on her show about her health, including her battle with Graves’ disease and her struggles with substance abuse, the latter of which landed her in rehab and a sober-living facility in 2019. But the star has yet to comment on the events of the past week, and insiders say her staff is getting updates on her from Instagram and news reports, “like everyone else.”

The source added to Page Six that “Wendy” staffers are skeptical that the former shock jock will make it to next month’s premiere. “People are tight-lipped about it, but there are whispers that she won’t be there,” the source told us.
