STEIN & DANDY
Raise a glass. This fall in NYC, the Oktoberfest is on
It’s all guten!
Munich may have canned this year’s Oktoberfest celebration, but New York City bars have picked up the slack — and then some.
Local watering holes are making the Bavarian festival their own, with everything from pig roasts to spunky lederhosen-wearing competitions. And, of course, there will be beer. Lots and lots of beer.
From a backyard bash at the Bronx Brewery today to a block party at the Brooklyn Navy Yard on Saturday, Oct. 2, there are tons of celebrations happening nearby for Oktoberfest 2021.
Here are five Oktoberfests happening in NYC that you just don’t want to miss this fall.
Rock ’n’ roast at Radegast Hall & Biergarten
You can celebrate Oktoberfest with beers and delicious sausages every day of the week at this Williamsburg hall, but Saturdays it’s a real party. Every weekend through the end of October will open with a ceremonial wooden keg and a traditional pig roast. Other highlights will include live German music and mug-holding competitions, plus lots of guests and staff in both traditional lederhosen and dirndls.
Manager Sean Snyder boasted that plenty of festive decorations will set the mood. “We’ll be decked out,” he told The Post.

Soak in the view at Watermark
Often billed as the marquee Oktoberfest event in New York, this outdoor bar at South Street Seaport’s Pier 15 hits all the right notes for a fun day of drinking.
Currently running seven days a week until Sunday, Oct. 24, Watermark offers massive German-style brats and pretzels, steins upon steins of beer, games such as pingpong and cornhole — plus breathtaking views of the Brooklyn Bridge and the skyline from a spacious outdoor setup.

Go big at Clinton Hall
Today through Sunday, Oct. 3, Clinton Hall is the go-to spot for drinking and eating competitions.
At its various locations across the city, the beer hall will be hosting pretzel-eating and stein-holding contests, along with a headliner lederhosen challenge of “who wore it best” for a $250 gift card happening on Saturday, Sept. 25, at all locations.
For those who prefer to just kick back and watch, there will be Radeburger Oktoberfest pints for $5 and a newly crafted bratwurst sandwich to try.

Raise a stein at Schaller & Weber
This German butcher on the Upper East Side flipped its backyard space into a pop-up biergarten from now until the end of October in the spirit of the holiday.
The German and Austrian menu includes fried Camembert cheese with lingonberries, goulash and pumpkin soup, sausage platters with bier brats, weisswurst and bauernwurst, along with veal wiener schnitzel and apple rings paired with palatschinken crepes for dessert.
Schaller & Weber is also sourcing its entire Oktoberfest beer stash from the Bavarian Weihenstephan, the world’s oldest brewery.

The Standard sets the standard for a grand day out
Raise a glass beneath this sleek Meatpacking District hotel. The Standard Biergarten will be recruiting breweries from near and far to celebrate Oktoberfest on select Wednesdays in late September and October.
First up is Vermont’s von Trapp Brewing on Sept. 28. The brewery is owned by the family who inspired the hit musical “The Sound of Music,” so that movie will be playing throughout the evening, and there will also be ceramic mug giveaways. Then, Brooklyn’s Sixpoint Brewery takes over on Oct. 13 and 20 to accompany live German music, beer foam, pretzel necklaces and tons of ales.
Also on the 13th, the Standard will offer custom engravings on pint glasses for its first 150 guests.
