Peyton, with eye on ownership, monitoring Broncos situation

Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning is reportedly looking to get into the business side of football.

CBS Sports reported Sunday that Manning is closely watching the pending sale of his former team, the Broncos, and has already spoken to at least two potential buyers regarding a possible management position, in addition to a minority stake in the franchise. While the Broncos aren’t for sale just yet, the report said there is a strong sense among owners and those in the NFL office that the team could be in new hands as early as next year.

Manning, who spent the final four seasons of his career in Denver, is well informed of the situation, according to CBS Sports. There have been many opportunities for the 45year-old to get back in the game in a different capacity, but Manning has opted to explore the media side while dedicating time to his family. He’s hosting an alternative “Monday Night Football” broadcast with his brother Eli on ESPN2 this season.

Given his residency in Denver and roots within the organization, Manning has evidently decided now is the time to get involved.

The Broncos are projected to sell in the $4 billion range, per CBS Sports. Following the extremely public issues between the Bowlen heirs after the death of Pat Bowlen in 2019, interested parties have been anticipating the transaction for years.

Denver hasn’t made the playoffs season 2015, when the organization won the Super Bowl over the Panthers.
