Serial thief targeting Bx. elders
A robber has mugged seven elderly men in The Bronx since May, including some who were assaulted and threatened with weapons, cops said. The most recent victim was a 90-year-old man inside his building at Cruger Avenue and Pelham Parkway South at 5:10 p.m. on Sept. 22. The crook (inset) is seen on newly released video coming up behind the man at the mailboxes and pickpocketing him, taking his cellphone and wallet containing $150, cops said. The victim, who didn’t notice until the suspect started to flee, appears to take off after him before the clip cuts off. The thief also approached a 66-year-old man from behind as he got off a BX19 bus at Third Avenue and East 149th Street in Mott Haven at around 8 p.m. on Sept. 18, cops said. He pushed the victim to the ground, displayed a knife and snatched his cellphone and wallet, police said.
At around 3 p.m. the previous day, the crook came up behind a 72-year-old man in Fordham Manor, pushed him to the ground and displayed a knife before snatching the victim’s wallet, cops said.
A day earlier, at around 1:20 a.m., a 68-year-old man was walking in Fordham Manor when the mugger hit him in the back of the head, causing him to fall to the ground, police said. The thug grabbed his wallet before fleeing.
On Sept. 12, a 78-year-old victim was in front of his apartment building in Allerton when the man pushed him to the ground and swiped $20, cops said.
The robber also stole $40 from a 76-year-old man at around 9 p.m. Sept. 8, cops said. The senior was walking up the stairs of his Kingsbridge Heights apartment building when the crook pushed him against the wall, causing him to bang his head.
The mugger found his first victim at around 5:25 p.m. on May 3 in a Pelham Parkway building. He came up behind the 78-year-old man and placed a knife against his throat, then swiped $3,000 from his pockets, cops said.
