Jets aim to carry their momentum overseas

LONDON — Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley was on the field for 100 snaps last week against the Titans.

Mosley, a seven-year veteran, said he had never played that many plays before, and he admitted Friday his legs still felt heavy. But, Mosley added, the pain and exhaustion from a heavy workload were offset by one thing.

“It’s always better when you win,” he said.

That is a feeling that resonated through the Jets this week. After notching their first victory of the season last week against the Titans, preparation for this week’s journey across the Atlantic Ocean to face the Falcons has been a little easier for everyone.

Now, the 1-3 Jets try to make it two in a row, against the 1-3 Falcons at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Jets have not gotten to two wins in a season this early since 2018. It would be confidence boost for the young team as it enters the bye week.

Coach Robert Saleh said making the corrections this week was aided by the good vibes off a win.

“The conversations are easier,” Saleh said. “When you lose, you’re a little bit more sensitive, so you try not to offend anyone, but you want to have those hard conversations. And when you win, I was just excited, and I think I speak for the rest of the coaching staff, just the reception that the players had because there was no, ‘I don’t need that pat on the back, how can I fix the mistake I made?’ That was all vocalized. So, it’s been a great week in terms of just having those conversations, and they came to practice and, again, another great week, and now it’s just a matter of stacking it up and leave it all on line on Sunday and let the chips fall where they may.”

The offense got a boost with its best game of the season.

“I definitely felt like now we understand that we’re really close to being a really good offense and just a team in general,” rookie quarterback Zach Wilson said.

Playing here will present another challenge, but the Jets have praised the plan the team’s performance staff made for them and believe they will be ready.

“The emphasis is: Can you win Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday before you get on the plane?” Saleh said. “The guys have just been attacking the heck out of it. And that was what we talked about all week: Can you win these four days before you jump on the plane? And it felt like they did a really good job with it.”
