Cheap illusion dress plays tummy tricks

- By ASIA GRACE

No, you’re not waisted: This dress is insanely flattering.

A midriff-cinching “illusion dress” has been dropping jaws on TikTok thanks to its stretchy fabric and a print that tricks the eye.

“My waist looks completely snatched,” fashion influencer and new mother Nana Castro told The Post, describing the stomach-slimming feature of Fashion Nova’s multicolored Mind of My Own maxidress.

“When I put [the dress] on and saw the way it accentuated my curves, I felt like the old me,” said the 31-year-old Westchester native, who has a 1-yearold tot. “I didn’t see ‘mom bod,’ I saw the sexy shape that I had before I had my son.”

Castro — who goes by @itsnanacastro and identifies as “midsize,” which is a term used to describe people that fit clothes ranging from sizes 8 to 12 — went viral on TikTok after modeling the tummy-trimming outfit Friday. Sewn into each side of the anklelength frock’s bodice are two straps that, when knotted together, create a belt across the waist.

In her video, Castro ties the belt tightly, and inches seem to disappear from her midsection, creating the optical illusion of an enhanced hourglass figure. The tree-bark pattern, with its vertical lines and varying dark hues also adds to the appeal — creating a chameleon-like camouflage around the wearers’ curves.

The flood of social media fanaticism led to the dress, priced at $27.99, quickly selling out in every size (from zero to 3X) on Fashion Nova’s Web site.

But the brand restocked the dress Tuesday evening after The Post reached out for comment.

The corseting creation first caught the Internet’s attention early last week when TikTok fashionista @xojemian, also known as Jem, shook cyberspace by demonstrating the effects of the waist-erasing ensemble in a trending try-on testimonial.

“Looks like my organs were tied together,” jokes Jem in the comments section of her video, which has racked up over 2.7 million views.

In the eye-popping post — titled “Trying on the viral waist illusion dress” — the petite brunette poses in the dress, ties the straps together and nearly instantly shaves inches off her already-slim midsection.

Her 4,000 TikTok followers couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

“I am not high or drunk and my brain can’t comprehend,” one awestruck commenter wrote.

“Girl it looked like you almost cut yourself in half for a second,” said another flabbergasted fan.

Others saturated her comments section with digital demands that Fashion Nova immediately restock it.

Those lucky enough to own the slimming slip are ready to take it out on the town.

“I’m going to wear it to brunch with my friends, and show out,” said Castro. “Everybody gassing me online — telling me how great the dresses looked on me — was the ultimate confidence boost.”
