BUST IN WIFE 'SLAY'

No body, but hubby charged

The husband of missing California woman Maya “May” Millete was arrested Tuesday in connection with her apparent death, authorities said.

Larry Millete, 39, has been charged with murder even though Maya’s body has not been found, according to San Diego prosecutors.

Maya, 39, was last seen on Jan. 7, days before a planned family trip.

Larry said at the time that the Chula Vista mother of three had left to get some time alone.

“A missing body is circumstantial evidence that there was foul play and there was a murder because someone who takes their own life cannot hide their body,” San Diego District Attorney Summer Stephan said at a press conference.

The DA alleged that Larry killed his wife to prevent her from leaving their marriage.

“May wanted a divorce for many reasons. Her husband, Larry, did not want the divorce,” Stephan said.

“In homicide cases, there is often a triggering event. The last call May made was to a divorce attorney. She did not make any further calls.”

Before May’s disappearance, her husband had hired people to cast spells on her, officials said. “Larry was trying to hold on to May and he resorted to contacting spellcasters,” Stephan said. “He was asking for May to become incapacitated . . . so that she could stay at home, thus displaying his homicidal idealizations to harm May.” Prosecutors presented circumstantial evidence that suggested Larry left his home for 11 hours on Jan. 8 to dispose of May’s body, and noted that he had refused to turn over a handgun to police that officials believe may have been used to kill her.

Larry’s lawyer said the charges came as a surprise because there is no evidence Maya is dead.

“We have speculation right now,” Bonita P. Martinez told the San Diego Union-Tribune. “Without a body, it just mere speculation. They have to have some proof that she is dead.”

A SWAT team stormed Larry Millete’s home Tuesday afternoon, announced themselves with loudspeakers and flash-bangs, and arrested him, according to the outlet.

“If anything happened to me, it would be Larry,” May told family members days before she vanished.

This job stinks.

A Tustin, Calif., medical lab will pay 75 bucks a pop for your poop.

Seres Therapeutics needs stool samples from healthy people before it can market a new therapy to fight C. diff, a debilitating intestinal disease.

“It’s my poop dreams come true,” one donor said.

Queen Elizabeth II is royally in denial.

The 95-year-old monarch turned down a British magazine’s bid to honor her as “Oldie of the Year.”

Why? Her Majesty does not think that she meets the criteria, an aide told Oldie, a monthly publication.

The queen believes you’re only as old as you feel, her aide said — but didn’t say how old she feels.

A fast-food dispute got pretty hot — and dangerous.

When a customer at a Wendy’s in Huntington, Tenn., complained his order was cold, he received a refund and a pan full of scalding-hot oil thrown at him by the manager, police said.

DeMarrus Pritchett, 21, faces assault charges for the attack that left the customer burned and blistered, police said.

COVID got to the king of the jungle.

A 13-year-old lion died on Oct. 11 in the Honolulu Zoo from the coronavirus, zoo officials posted on Facebook.

The lion, Ekundu, had suffered from epilepsy, and investigators are now looking into the role the virus played in his death.

It’s on its way from the thrift store to art gallery.

A glass vase bought for $4.99 in a Pacific Northwest thrift shop is set to hit the auction block on Oct. 28 with an estimated asking price of between $10,000 and $15,000.

The vase, designed by Kolomon Moser, was discovered by a “shopper with an exceptionally discerning eye,” said a Heritage Auctions official without identifying the shopper.
