LA hoping Urias can give length to spell pen

LOS ANGELES — The Braves’ missed opportunity on Tuesday is only exacerbated by the pitching edge the Dodgers will have for Game 4 of the NLCS at Dodger Stadium.

Left-hander Juilo Urias will get the ball for the Dodgers, while Braves manager Brian Snitker is planning for a bullpen game. Urias went 20-3 with a

2.96 ERA in 32 starts during the regular season. He pitched an inning in relief in Game 2 in Atlanta on Sunday — and surrendered two earned runs — but can potentially give the Dodgers the length they will need after using eight relievers in Monday’s 6-5 victory in Game 3.

Manager Dave Roberts noted that Blake Trienen and Brusdar Graterol were not needed and could be utilized in high-leverage spots if needed in Game 4.

“The relievers came in and won us that ballgame,” Roberts said. “They not only won today’s game, but they helped us win the next game, too.”

Roberts has indicated the Dodgers will probably go with a bullpen start for Game 5 on Thursday. If the series returns to Atlanta this weekend, Max Scherzer would be in position to start on extra rest in Game 6.

Freddie Freeman went 3-for-4, reaching base four times, after going hitless in his first eight at-bats of the series (with seven strikeouts).

“He had a rough couple days, and I said I think everybody forgot that three games ago he’s the reason we are here right now,” Snitker said, referring to Freeman’s homer that beat Milwaukee in Game 4 of the NLDS. “Guys go through that. It’s just magnified this time of year, or this time of year and beginning of the year it gets magnified also.”

Justin Turner returned at third base after missing the Game 2 start with neck soreness. Turner went hitless in three at-bats with a walk. He is 3-for-31 (.097) overall in the postseason.
