Oz off air amid elex run
The “Dr. Oz Show” is going dark in several major TV markets after its celebrity surgeon declared himself a US Senate candidate in Pennsylvania.
Fox stations in New York City and Philadelphia have pulled the show in light of the Federal Communications Commission’s “equal time” rules for broadcast TV stations, Fox communications VP Erica Keane confirmed to The Post Thursday.
The rules give rival candidates the ability to request matching air time.
But although Dr. Mehmet Oz is running for office in the Keystone State, some Fox stations in New York City have had to drop the show, too, because parts of northeastern Pennsylvania get New York TV channels.
