Kid is Miami art star

-

PAINTER Andres Valencia, 10, has become the sensation of Miami Art Week, selling works to stars including Sofia Vergara, boxer Ryan Garcia and even “Wolf of Wall Street” Jordan Belfort. Andres, from San Diego, apparently watched a film about Jean-Michel Basquiat and told his father, “I can do that.” So his dad, attorney Guadalupe Valencia, bought him large-scale canvases during the pandemic. Andres’ work is now featured at Chase Contemporary’s booth at Art Miami, which runs through Sunday. Also spotted visiting the booth to see Andres’ work was “Magic Mike” star Channing Tatum. Andres is self taught, having created his first painting at 4. His collection already has an offer from a New York collector, according to Nick Korniloff, Art Miami’s director. Andres — who names George Condo and Picasso as favorites, and met with Shepard Fairey this week — will paint live at the fair Saturday at noon.
