These radio hosts byte. Smooth-talking robot disc jockeys will soon take over the airwaves at dozens of radio stations, according to a firm that makes so-called “voice avatars.”

The Seattle-based startup Super Hi-Fi has already created at least 50 artificial­ly intelligen­t DJs, using the recorded voices of real ones. Producers can control song descriptio­ns and other comments by typing in text.
