Embiid, 76ers keep Curry, Warriors in check

Joel Embiid had 26 points and nine rebounds and the 76ers delayed Stephen Curry’s bid to break Ray Allen’s career 3-point record in a 102-93 victory over the Warriors on Saturday night.

Curry scored 18 points and shot 3 of 14 from 3-point range to move within six of matching Allen’s record. Curry’s next shot at the record is Monday night at Indiana in the second game of a five-game trip.

In San Antonio, Nikola Jokic had 35 points, 17 rebounds and eight assists and the Nuggets beat the Spurs, 127-112.

In Miami, Duncan Robinson scored a season-high 26 points and the Heat beat the short-handed Bulls 118-92. The Bulls lost guards Ayo Dosunmu and Stanley Johnson to health and safety protocols hours before the game. Leading scorer DeMar DeRozan as well as Matt Thomas, Coby White, Javonte Green and Derrick Jones Jr., are also sidelined because of protocols.

In Washington, Donovan Mitchell scored 28 points and the Jazz routed the Wizards, 123-98, for their seventh straight victory. NFL: Broncos to honor late former WR Thomas

The Broncos will honor receiver Demaryius Thomas, who died Thursday night in his suburban Atlanta home at the age of 33, before their game Sunday against the Lions. Oregon has hired Georgia defensive coordinato­r Dan Lanning as its next head coach, a person involved in the negotiatio­ns told the Associated Press. The 35-year-old Lanning will be a first-time head coach with the Ducks after spending the last four years at Georgia, the previous three as defensive coordinato­r.

In Ottawa, Ontario, Brady Tkachuk scored his first career hat trick to lead the Senators to a 4-0 victory, snapping the Lightning’s five-game win streak.

Marc Leishman holed out for eagle for the second straight day as he and Jason Day posted an 8-under 64 in the modified alternate shot format to build a three-shot lead in the QBE Shootout in Naples, Fla.
