Coachella drops Travis Scott

Travis Scott has been yanked from the lineup of the Coachella music festival in the wake of the deadly stampede that killed 10 at his Astroworld concert last month.

Scott had been slated to be among the headliners for the hugely popular annual music fest in the California desert until organizers pulled the plug on him, Variety reported.

The announcement comes as a Change.org petition calling for him to be removed garnered more than 60,000 signatures as of Sunday.

“With the recent tragedy and unnecessary death at Travis Scott’s Astroworld concert, due to Scott’s own gross negligence and sheer lack of compassion for human life, we ask AEG, Paul Tollet, and Goldenvoice to remove his [sic] as performer at all of their festivals,” the petition reads.

The 30-year-old “Sicko Mode” rapper (left) has taken a major professional hit since the Nov. 5 concert in Houston, where hundreds were injured in the deadly crush.

On Friday, Anheuser-Busch pulled a Scott-branded hard seltzer from store shelves, saying in a statement that “brand fans will understand and respect” the decision.

Earlier this month, Hulu killed a 50-minute special titled “Astroworld: Concert From Hell” about the Houston tragedy after facing backlash on social media.

Scott is also facing millions of dollars in lawsuits from those injured and the families of those killed, and even from security guards at the event, who said they were put in harm’s way and were not trained to handle the massive crowd.

Variety reached out to Scott’s reps but had not received comment.

Last week, the rapper broke his silence about the incident, saying he is “1,000 percent” confident he would help injured concertgoers.

“I have a responsibility to figure out what happened here,” he said. “I have a responsibility to find a solution. Hopefully, this takes a first step into us artists having more insight into what’s going on.”

First held in 1999, the Coachella music festival is the largest in North America, with a capacity of 125,000. The 2022 event, scheduled for April 15-24, is already sold out after the festival was canceled last year by the COVID-19 pandemic.
