Meta-mart set to open
Eager to show off the future of the metaverse, Meta Platforms has decided to open a 1,550-square-foot retail store in . . . the regular-verse.
Meta, Facebook’s parent, said Monday that it will open the first Meta Store on May 9 on the company’s Reality Labs campus in Burlingame, Calif., south of San Francisco. The store will offer demos of Oculus Quest 2 headsets, Portal videocalling hardware and smart glasses co-branded with Ray Ban.
“Ultimately, our goal with the Meta Store is to show people what’s possible with our products today, while giving a glimpse into the future as the metaverse comes to life — and hopefully demystifying that concept a bit in the process,” the company said.
Meta also added an online store to its Web site to sell the same wares.
