LI ‘DWI’ HOME RAM
An out-of-control pickup truck careened into a Long Island home early Thursday — smashing through a room where a 13-yearold boy was sleeping, according to cops and reports.
The Chevy Silverado — which was allegedly driven by illegal immigrant Blas Flores-Velasquez — crashed into the Cypress Lane home in Westbury just before 1 a.m., authorities said.
The driver mowed through several rooms of the home — including the teen’s bedroom — where it passed inches away from his bed, WABC/Channel 7 reported.
Crash driver ‘fled’
The truck continued through a fence and finally stopped in a neighbor’s yard, according to the report.
After the crash, Flores-Velasquez ran off and was eventually found hiding in a wooded area near the Wantagh Parkway, according to police.
“I went to my son’s room and saw there was a hole. I didn’t know there’s a car that went through there,” the boy’s mother, Thu Pham, told the station.
“I went to see what happened to my son. He was only 1 foot away . . . My son just woke up and the whole thing was on top of him.”
Teen Jayden Trinh told Newsday he was “really confused” after the crash.
“I thought we were getting robbed or that something just exploded,” he said. “Everybody was panicking. We called the cops.”
Then he realized what had happened, he said, describing the crash as “really unreal.”
The motorist was arrested more than two hours later after a police search.
Cops say no license
Flores-Velasquez was charged with DWI leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license, cops said.
He was walked out of Nassau Police headquarters at around 12:45 p.m. Nassau police declined to comment Thursday afternoon.
Flores-Velasquez has four prior arrests from the late 1990s and was deported from the United States in 2020, according to police.
Photos and videos show the facade of the home in shambles following the crash. No injuries have been reported.
