Tragic end to music

Grief over DJ’s death

A Bronx man killed in a freak subway accident was recalled Friday as a cherished friend and aspiring DJ, who loved dogs and was the brother of an NYPD cop.

“He was a real down-toearth person, everyone around here knew him; he would DJ at people’s parties,” a neighbor told The Post Friday about Marcus Bryant (inset), 37, who fell to his death after getting his foot caught in between a subway car and the platform while step- ping off a Q train in Brooklyn on Wednesday. “He was a good friend to everyone. He loved life, he lived life.”

A longtime friend of Bryant said Bryant’s favorite music was reggae — and since his pal’s death, the friend said he’s been exclusively listening to the Jamaican tunes.

“He’s hard-working, and DJ’ing was one of his hobbies,” the friend, who asked not to be named, said. “His music was universal — hip hop, reggae — when he was DJ’ing.”

A memorial has been set up in front of Bryant’s family’s Bronx home, where a vigil was held Thursday night.

One neighbor, who went by Kes, said he would know as soon as Bryant was home from work “because you would always hear the music” from his DJ setup.

“So, I just take a shower, go over there … we had our crew,” Kes said.

“It’s so quiet. With him not here, it’s too quiet.”

Kes laughed as he recalled his friend to The Post, sharing how “he didn’t have no problems with the ladies.”

“He’s never been in no drama, he’s a cool guy. He has the dreads. He kept his faith. He was always polite and impeccably dressed.” One neighbor described Bryant as a “great guy” and said his death was a “shocker.”

“He loved dogs. Every time he would see him, he would say ‘Hi, buddy.’”

Neighbor Marcus Sinsurin said his friend’s police officer brother was looking for answers to the tragedy.

“I spoke to his brother last night. The brother said they haven’t given him an answer for what happened yet,” said Sinsurin.

Attempts to reach Bryant’s brother were unsuccessful.
