Con Edison Will Provide Relief for Past Due Bill Balances through May 1, 2022 for Eligible Residential Customers
Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (“Con Edison”) has filed with the New York State Public Service Commission (the “Commission”) changes its Schedule for Electricity Service, P.S.C. No. 10 – Electricity (“Electric Tariff”), Schedule for PASNY Delivery Service, P.S.C. No. 12 – Electricity (“PASNY Tariff”), and Schedule for Gas Service, P.S.C. No. 9 – Gas (the “Gas Tariff”), pursuant to the Commission’s order issued June 16, 2022, in Cases 14-M-0565 et al. (the “Order”).
Pursuant to the Order, Con Edison added new provisions in its Electric, PASNY, and Gas Tariffs, to describe the new Electric and Gas Bill Relief Program. Under the Electric and Gas Bill Relief Program, residential customers who received benefits from the Company’s Low Income Program, New York State’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program, or the Home Energy Assistance Program – Regular Arrears Supplement, subject to the conditions in the Order, will receive a one-time bill credit for any arrears balances from bills for service through May 1, 2022. The Company will recover the bill credits applied to customer bills for the Electric and Gas Bill Relief Program, in exceedance of funds provided by New York State and shareholders, plus carrying charges, in the Company’s existing Monthly Adjustment Clause in the Electric Tariff, the Other Charges and Adjustments in the PASNY Tariff, and Monthly Rate Adjustment in the Gas Tariff.
The filings were submitted on June 24, 2022 and became effective on July 1, 2022, on a temporary basis.
