Beanie out of ‘Funny’ biz

-

PRODUCERS of the Broadway revival “Funny Girl” were “blindsided” by Beanie Feldstein’s shocking exit announcement on social media, sources tell Page Six.

A Broadway insider told The Post’s Nicki Gostin that producers were planning on making the announcement yesterday, but Feldstein, 29, beat them to the punch when she posted on Sunday evening.

“Playing Fannie Brice on Broadway has been a lifelong dream of mine, and doing so for the last few months has been a great joy and true honor,” wrote the former star of the show, who received mixed reviews for her performance.

“Once the production decided to take the show in a different direction, I made the extremely difficult decision to step away sooner than anticipated,” she cryptically added, before thanking everyone who came to see her onstage.

But another Broadway source told us the actress feels “betrayed”: “The entire creative team built a brand around a new type of Fanny for a new generation. Now, the entire team has turned on her and kind of points fingers at her like she’s the reason the show isn’t working.”

They added: “Beanie feels attacked by everyone around her. She’s like, ‘You brought me here in the first place!’ ”

“It’s not that Beanie is untalented,” said another source. “It’s not her fault. She was poorly cast. It was the people around her giving bad advice. Production shouldn’t have put in someone who wasn’t capable.”

Feldstein was set to leave the show in September, along with co-star Jane Lynch. Rumors had been swirling that Lynch’s former “Glee” co-star Lea Michele, 35, would take over, which producers confirmed yesterday.

Meanwhile, a source close to the production told us, “The producers were absolutely aware she was making this announcement and they approved that language. An email went out [Sunday saying] her last performance date and that the information would be released. It was not a surprise to anyone.”
