Chesa: No SF race
Former San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin, who was ousted by voters in a June recall, said on Thursday that he wouldn’t try to get his job back in the city’s upcoming special election.
The progressive former DA explained his decision on Twitter, saying he was “choosing to put my family first.”
“I’m committed to criminal justice reform; I’m also committed to my family,” he wrote.
San Francisco voters recalled Boudin on June 7 over his policies, which were criticized as soft on crime and which were blamed for contributing to the city’s surge in open-air drugdealing, robberies and other crime.
In his Twitter thread Thursday, Boudin stood by his policies, including his resentencing work that “offered second chances to those who had caused harm and supported victims.”
