Time To Ax Alvin, Gov

-

‘This is the law of the land in the state of New York, and it is our full expectation that it will be applied,” Gov. Hochul said Wednesday. “Every element of the entire criminal-justice system needs to be working collaboratively.”

If she means it, she’ll at long last suspend Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who still refuses to apply New York law and regularly works at cross-purposes with the NYPD.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis just did something similar, suspending Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren from office for pledging not to enforce state laws.

Warren, like Bragg, is a George Sorosbacked “un-prosecutor.” Thus, while most media paint abortion limits as the issue for DeSantis, his order also cited Warren policies of not prosecuting violations including “trespassing at a business location, disorderly conduct, disorderly intoxication and prostitution,” as well as crimes that grew from cops seeking to enforce minor violations.

And as the ax came down, local law-enforcement officials voiced longstanding grievances about Warren’s under-prosecution of run-of-the-mill criminals.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said Warren “seems intently focused on empathy for criminals and less interested in pursuing justice for crime victims.” The Polk and Pasco county sheriffs chimed in, as did former Tampa police Chief Brian Dugan.

Again, Bragg has been more than open about his refusal to enforce the law, even if he’s backed off of parts of his infamous “Day One” instructions to his prosecutors. And The Post has spotlighted several cases where his under-prosecution infuriated the NYPD.

Fine, Hochul’s Wednesday remarks mainly fingered judges, not DAs, for excessive leniency. But it’s still just empty tough talk unless she walks the walk. Are you for public safety or not, Gov?
