Suds for your bloods

- Mark Lungariello

This blood’s for you. The nonprofit New York Blood Center is offering a free beer for each donation as it faces a blood shortage across the New York City region.

People who give blood during the Pint for a Pint campaign through Sept. 10 will get a voucher that can be redeemed at 25 breweries or restaurants for a pint of beer, cider or other drink — but they can’t cash them in on the same day as the donation.

“All of our donor centers and blood drives are airconditioned and donating blood could serve as a great break from record-breaking heat,” Andrea Cefarelli, senior vice president of the center, said in a news release announcing the effort.

“Even better, we’ve partnered with breweries and restaurants all over the region for free beverages as a thank you for donating.”

Bobby Daquara, owner of the Greenhouse Case in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, did a test pilot of the program in June and brought in more than 100 donations and poured as many drinks.

“I think everybody likes a beer,” he told The Post.

“It’s a just way to say thank you for doing something good.”
