Mindy’s ‘Light’

MINDY Kaling and maybeboyfriend B.J. Novak (they say they have a “complicated relationship”) were spotted doing a little holiday shopping and picking out a book about Diwali. The pair were seen browsing the kids’ section of an independent bookstore — which is a little like spotting Stephen King thumbing through the horror section, since Novak’s literary background includes the children’s classic “The Book With No Pictures.” We’re told Kaling bought the store’s last copy of Raakhee Mirchandani’s “My Diwali Light.” The Hindu festival is coming up on Monday. We hear that Kaling told staff the book was for her daughter to read in a class before the holiday.
