Adams’ Luxe Migrant Digs: New York’s Needy Left Out

-

Who knew the city could move so fast setting up housing for illegal migrants who have crossed our borders (“Apple’s migrant village resort,” Oct. 19)?

And the amenities are first class! Sofas, chairs, coffee tables, laundry machines, X-boxes, and banks of phones. They even get free medical care.

The city has been trying for years to fix the homeless crisis among our American citizens. So here’s a thought.

Why not give America’s homeless the fancy tents and put the trespassers in the shelters?

Our city is already dealing with thousands of homeless people, as well as increased crime. Having additional migrants coming here seeking shelter will just continue to strain city services.

Mayor Adams needs to insist on receiving federal money from Washington DC to assist with this very difficult and chaotic task. But the real solution to this crisis — and not just here in New York, but all over the country — is to close the southern border immediately so that no more people can illegally enter our country.

I have become disgusted at the influx of illegal immigrants flooding New York City.

Every day I read about how much taxpayer money is needed to support the new arrivals. Government, charities and private citizens are tripping over themselves to supply food, shelter, medical care and schooling. Meanwhile, American homeless rot in the streets.

Keep in mind: A homeless person most likely was a productive citizen at some point and paid something into the system that now ignores him — the same system that can’t wait to help someone who broke the law getting into the country and has contributed absolutely nothing. Tom Vespo

Tent city? It’s like living at the Ritz! The new housing area for illegal migrants has everything a person dreams of: TV, video games, new sofas, laundry service and “culturally appropriate” South American fare, Where do I sign up?
