The doctor is coming back to the Jets.

After working out for the organization on Wednesday, guard Laurent DuvernayTardif agreed to be signed to the Jets’ practice squad for offensive line depth, a source confirmed.

Duvernay-Tardif appeared in eight games with seven starts for the Jets last season before spending this year completing a portion of his medical residency in Montreal.

“Nothing’s official yet that I know of, but then it will be a process of seeing where he is. He’s been out of football for a while,” offensive line coach John Benton said after practice Thursday. “But I’m excited at the prospect of getting him, for sure. As this year has attested, you can’t have enough good football players. So very hopeful and optimistic that it works out.”

Duvernay-Tardif, 31, played five seasons for the Chiefs from 2015-19, winning a Super Bowl ring to conclude the 2019 campaign.

“His movement skills were good. He appears to be in shape … and I thought he looked pretty good,” Benton said of Duvernay-Tardif’s workout. “I see all the TV shows where they work those [doctors] to death, but he said he was able to work out a schedule and he’s always been a workout guy. So I pretty much figured he would be in good shape.”

➤ Asked about preparing to play the Patriots’ defense for a second time in three games, offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur recalled when he was an assistant with the Falcons in 2015. Atlanta was blown out, 38-0, by the Panthers in the first meeting before ending Carolina’s bid for a perfect season two weeks later with a 20-13 win.

“You just kind of deal with it. This isn’t the first time it’s happened,” LaFleur said. “That’s just the definition of ‘any given Sunday’ in the league.

“There are advantages and disadvantages, you just know that no matter who you play, whether it’s the New England Patriots with Bill [Belichick] and his staff, or anyone across the league, what you saw two weeks ago or two games ago, there’s definitely going to be adjustments from both sides and we have to be ready for them.” ➤ DT Sheldon Rankins (elbow), WR Corey Davis (knee) and G Nate Herbig (shin) did not practice for the second straight day. Rankins already has been ruled out for Sunday, and Davis is trending toward missing a third straight game.
