Trump Org’s Legal Trouble: Justice or a Witch Hunt?

-

Former President Donald Trump may escape criminal punishment for his involvement in the Jan. 6 insurrection attempt and for taking classified documents to Mara-Lago, but the efforts of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and New York Attorney General Letitia James ensure that he doesn’t escape with impunity (“Trump Org guilt on tax rap,” Dec. 7).

Although their charges against Trump pale in comparison to the more heinous crimes that Trump engineered, we should remember that Al Capone was convicted and imprisoned for tax fraud, not for murder and racketeering. Paul L. Newman

It is no secret that DA Bragg is pro-criminal, and not pro-New York City citizen.

Numerous felons and other criminals have been released without bail only to commit new similar offenses against the citizens of our city.

He has even gone further and had citizens who defended themselves arrested and detained.

Now, the airwaves are full of Bragg taking credit for the recent verdict against the Trump Organization regarding tax fraud. He won’t speak up about the crime against our citizens, but will brag about his case against Trump. Patrick Abbruzzi

It was nice to see the Trump Organization found guilty, on all counts, for criminal business practices.

But like always, Donald Trump and his children will walk away from this with no punishment.

The potential $1.6 mil fine is a farce. It is meaningless. His business being flagged to potential lenders is also meaningless.

Hopefully the day will come when Trump and his children are held accountable. Kreg Ramone

If only lawmakers would put as much time and effort into prosecuting criminals who are making the streets of New York City unsafe as they have for finding the Trump Organization guilty of tax fraud, we would see some real progress.

Ever since Trump won the 2016 election, Democrats have been hellbent on destroying him. It reeks of partisan politics. It stinks to high heaven. JoAnn Lee Frank
