Beckham not likely to return anytime soon

- By JUSTIN TASCH

It appears Odell Beckham Jr. might not sign with a team in the immediate future.

With his return from an ACL injury suffered in the Super Bowl anticipated following a free-agency tour that saw him visit the Giants,

Bills and Cowboys, Beckham’s future is “in a holding pattern” and there’s “no timeline” for the wide receiver to make a decision, according to NFL.com.

There are doubts about Beckham’s readiness to return 10 months removed from the ACL tear, and he did not work out on the field for any of the three teams he met with. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan during the week that he was “not confident” about signing the 30-yearold, and the team reportedly did not offer him a contract.

The Cowboys have been the most public in their pursuit of Beckham, with players regularly recruiting him during interviews and through social media.

“It’s fair to say I’m trying to reach a Super Bowl,” DeMarcus Lawrence told reporters on Wednesday. “So if he can come and help us with that, then yes, I’ll accept him. But if we’re just gonna do the circus, no, I don’t.”

Beckham’s free agency took more twists as the week went on. Daniel Chalet, who calls himself “the official driver” for Beckham and Saquon Barkley, said on Instagram that Beckham would not be signing with the Cowboys.

Then, the wide receiver appeared on “The Shop” during “Thursday Night Football” and made a comment about Barkley, whom Beckham was teammates with during the running back’s rookie Giants season in 2018.

“I’ll say this, but it doesn’t mean anything. I don’t feel like Saquon Barkley and I got to do what we were supposed to do,” Beckham said, adding that he’d rather play in the playoffs than the regular season.
