Mayor sick of slow DC

- Nolan Hicks

A furious Mayor Adams demanded Monday that the federal government mount a COVID-19-like response to help provide housing and social services to the thousands of migrants who have arrived in the city.

Hizzoner escalated his rhetoric hours after City Hall announced new plans to open an emergency shelter inside the cruise ship terminal in Brooklyn’s Red Hook neighborhood and released statistics that showed more than 41,600 migrants had arrived since the summer.

“Where’s our national response?” Adams asked during a Bronx news conference.

“I can understand those who are looking at what we’re doing through the prism of a normal situation,” he continued. “What I’m going to ask of them is look at this [as] a crisis.

“The same [way] we looked at COVID, the same way we respond when there’s a . . . natural disaster.”
