NBA: Giannis departs, Bucks win

Giannis Antetokoun­mpo left late in the first quarter with a right knee issue to spoil his rapid return from a sprained wrist, but the Bucks still trounced the Heat 128-99 on Friday night in Milwaukee for their 13th consecutiv­e victory. Jrue Holiday scored 24 points to lead Milwaukee.

Bucks officials said in the second quarter that Antetokoun­mpo had knocked knees with an opponent and wouldn’t return to the game.

In Atlanta, Trae Young scored 34 points and the Hawks beat the Cavaliers 136-119 in their first game under interim coach Joe Prunty.

Quin Snyder was offered the Hawks head coaching job and Atlanta plans on hiring in the 56-year-old former Jazz coach on a deal worth about $8 million per year, according to a report by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

NFL: Wilson denies rumors

Broncos quarterbac­k Russell Wilson took to social media to deny a report from the The Athletic that he asked Seahawks ownership to fire head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider before he was traded to Denver in March 2022.

The Chiefs promoted Matt Nagy to offensive coordinato­r to replace the departed Eric Bieniemy, giving Nagy the job he held before departing Andy Reid’s staff for an opportunit­y as the head coach in Chicago.

GOLF: Casey, Kokrak share LIV lead

Paul Casey birdied his last three holes for a 6-under 65 and a share of the lead with Jason Kokrak as the second season of Saudi-funded LIV Golf began at Mayakoba in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.

They were two shots clear of Peter Uihlein, Talor Gooch and Carlos Ortiz, one of two Mexican players who are part of the 48-man LIV roster.

A federal judge declined to postpone the trial date in LIV Golf ’s antitrust lawsuit against the PGA Tour, even while conceding that might be inevitable if Saudi Arabia, which funds LIV, appeals a ruling that officials with its sovereign wealth fund be required to testify.

In Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Chris Kirk shot an 8-under 62 in the second round of he Honda Classic, moving him to 9 under for the week and one shot behind Justin Suh (64).

NCAA: Xavier tops Seton Hall

Souley Boum scored 23 points to lead No. 16 Xavier to an 82-60 victory over Seton Hall at Prudential Center in Newark.

There was a scuffle in front of the scorer’s table with 1.6 seconds remaining involving Boum and Seton Hall’s Jaquan Sanders. Both received technical fouls. Pirates forward KC Ndefo, who had fouled out, was ejected after officials reviewed the altercatio­n.

In Emmitsburg, Md., Walter Clayton Jr. scored a game-high 28 points to lead Iona to a 80-68 victory over Mount St. Mary’s. NHL: Maple Leafs win in overtime

William Nylander scored 1:05 into overtime, and the Maple Leafs beat the Wild 2-1 in Toronto. David Kampf also scored for Toronto and Illya Samsonov made 24 saves.

In Sunrise, Fla., Jeff Skinner scored twice and 41-year-old Craig Anderson made 50 saves against his former team to lead the Sabres to a 3-1 win over the Panthers.
