Zags stomp Saint Mary’s

Drew Timme scored 18 points and became Gonzaga’s all-time leading scorer to lead the sharp-shooting No. 9 Bulldogs past No. 16 Saint Mary’s 77-51 in the West Coast Conference Tournament title game. The Zags (28-5) continued their domination of the WCC with their fourth consecutiv­e tournament championsh­ip and 10th in 11 years.

Summit Championsh­ip Oral Roberts 92, NDSU 58

In Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Max Abmas scored 26 points and Oral Roberts rolled past North Dakota State and into the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years.

NEC Championsh­ip Merrimack 67, FDU 66

In North Andover, Mass., Merrimack, which is ineligible for the NCAA Tournament due to a four-year transition to Division I, closed on an 8-0 run. FDU had already secured the conference’s automatic bid in the Big Dance but was seeking its seventh NEC Tournament title.

Colonial Championsh­ip Charleston 63, UNCW 58

In Washington, Ryan Larson scored 23 points and his effort at both of ends of the floor late helped send Charleston past upsetminde­d UNC Wilmington to clinch its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2018 and sixth overall.

Horizon Championsh­ip No. Kent. 63, Cleveland St. 61

In Indianapol­is, Marques Warrick scored 18 points and Sam Vinson added 16 to lead Northern Kentucky to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time since 2017.

MAAC first round

Saint Peter’s 70, Fairfeld 52

In Atlantic City, Jaylen Murray had 23 points as the 10th-seeded Peacocks (13-17) tried to recapture some of their March magic, setting up a quarterfin­al against No. 2 Rider.

Marist 61, Manhattan 50

Patrick Gardner carried the Red Foxes (10-19, 6-14) with 22 points and 11 rebounds to knock out the Jaspers (12-17, 10-10).

In another first-round game, Canisius beat Mount St. Mary’s 67-66 in overtime to earn a date with No. 1 Iona.

ACC first round

Va. Tech 67, Notre Dame 64

In Greensboro, N.C., Grant Basile scored 20 points, Justyn Mutts added 18 and Virginia Tech rallied to beat Notre Dame in what is likely coach Mike Brey’s last game with the Irish after 23 seasons. The 11th-seeded Hokies next faces No. 6 N.C. State.

In the other first-round games, Georgia Tech nipped Florida State 61-60 to earn a date with fifth-seeded Pitt; and Boston College beat Louisville 80-62, to face seventh-seeded North Carolina.
