Oscars blacklist ‘The Slap 2’

-

THE Oscars team is prepared for crisis after last year’s slap left viewers dumbfounded.

But off-screen, Will Smith is still smarting from Chris Rock’s barbs over the incident in his latest comedy special a year later.

The awards’ creative team revealed Wednesday how they’re going to address last year’s incident when Smith slapped Rock onstage.

“We’re going to acknowledge it, and then we’re gonna move on,” executive producer Molly McNearney said. “We don’t want to make this year about last year. It’s certainly something we can and will address in a comedic fashion.”

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences previously shared that it will have a “crisis team” on standby — just in case.

Showrunner Ricky Kirshner added this year’s show will be different, and changes have been made. “There’s no more ‘This is what we used to do.’ We’ve rethought the show and we’ve got presenters that make sense for the categories,” Kirshner said.

He shared that the Oscars will be about “honoring the crafts and what it takes to make a movie.”

All categories will be shown live, including those that did not previously make it into the live telecast. As far as music goes, the orchestra will be onstage and shown throughout the ceremony. The 95th awards are hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and go down Sunday in LA.

Meanwhile, Smith is still stinging from Rock’s recent comedic rebuttal. Smith is reportedly “embarrassed and hurt” over Rock’s comments in a Netflix special last week, which reignited the controversy.

“Will is embarrassed and hurt by what Chris said about him and his family,” a source told “ET.” “He didn’t watch it, but he had people tell him what Chris said . . . Will and Jada (Pinkett Smith) have seen comments about it.” Smith reportedly feels Rock’s routine was “distasteful.” Well, that’s rich!
