MLB: Sawx quick to slow Halos

● In Yokosuma, Japan, Trevor Bauer pitched his first competitiv­e game in almost two years, for the Yokohama BayStars minor league team, allowing four hits, no runs and striking out six in four innings. The 2020 NL Cy Young Award winner said he’s almost ready to debut for the BayStars after being shunned by major league teams following domestic violence allegation­s against him. Matt Fitzpatric­k defeated defending champion Jordan Spieth on the third playoff hole at the RBC Heritage on Sunday in Hilton Head Island, S.C., stuffing his approach in close on the par-4 18th at Harbour Town to secure his first victory since the U.S. Open last June. Fitzpatric­k hit 9-iron to within 1 foot on the famed, closing lighthouse hole to set up the winning birdie on the Pete Dye course he played as a child on vacation.

NCAA: Buckeyes OC hurt in UTV

Ohio State offensive coordinato­r Brian Hartline has been hospitaliz­ed Sunday after a utility task vehicle accident on his property. According to a statement from OSU’s athletic department, Hartline and an unidentifi­ed friend were transporte­d to Riverside Hospital with “non-life threatenin­g injuries.”

Center Jesse Edwards has committed to transfer to West Virginia for next season after opting to leave Syracuse, per ESPN. The All-ACC third-team selection, who has one year of eligibilit­y left, averaged 14.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.7 blocks for the Orange last season.

Chase Elliott finished 10th in his first race since breaking his leg in a snowboardi­ng accident that forced him to miss six weeks.
