Independence Day sequel?

WELL, this is the best news Americans have heard since 1776.

King Charles’ former butler says it’s “very possible” that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, will eventually sling their hook (as they say in the United Kingdom) and move back to Britain.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex sensationally shut the door on royal life in 2020 and hightailed it across the pond to California. They have returned to the UK only a few times since.

But Grant Harrold, who worked as Charles’ butler from 2004 to 2011 when the now-king was Prince of Wales, insists a return to Harry’s home soil is a likely move for the couple.

“It’s always possible that one day he might want to come home,” Harrold, 45, told The Post’s Nika Shakhnazarova of Harry. “It’s possible that he might buy [a property] here if he wanted to come over [more] and Meghan didn’t want to come over.”

“Meghan doesn’t really have any family here as such, all her family are in the States and that’s where Harry has decided he wants to set up his home,” he said.

The British etiquette expert and broadcaster said the flame-haired prince is “always going to have an association with the UK” and will never “totally want to cut that off.”

“He’ll always want to keep his fingers in that pie, so to speak,” Harrold said.

“He’ll want to have that association with Britain just in case one day he does want to come back,” Harrold continued, “and I don’t think Harry will want to sever ties.”

The Sussexes’ move, famously dubbed Megxit, caused intense controversy within and bad blood among the royal family.

It would certainly be nice to rid the United States of the British monarchy for a second time. We have enough over-privileged, out-oftouch egomaniacs of our own in California without having to put up with the Brits’ spoiled brats as well.
