‘Slay’ fiend busted after days on run
The convicted felon suspected of murdering tech CEO Pava LaPere in her Baltimore apartment was arrested Wednesday night, according to authorities and a report.
Jason Billingsley, 32, considered highly dangerous while on the run, was nabbed in Bowie, Md., after several days on the lam, according to a since-deleted tweet by the US Marshals Service.
Sources speaking to WBFF TV also confirmed Billingsley’s arrest, adding he was caught at a train station on Laurel-Bowie Road and cuffed without incident.
The fugitive had been named the sole suspect in the murder of LaPere, who was reported missing Monday and later found dead with blunt-force trauma to the head.
The 26-year-old founder of EcoMap Technologies, who was named on this year’s Forbes 30 under 30 list for social impact, was discovered badly beaten and partially clothed.
Billingsley has a history of violence and just last week he allegedly raped and duct-taped another woman after posing as a maintenance worker
Billingsley was accused of assaulting a woman before setting her and a man on fire in a home Sept. 19, the Baltimore Banner reported.
He initially tried to enter the home by identifying himself as a worker.
When no one answered, the violent ex-con kicked the door, pointed a gun at two people, and handcuffed and duct-taped them, a source told the Banner.
Authorities believe he raped the woman and sliced her neck before dousing her and the man in liquid and setting them afire.
Both survived the near-death attack and were hospitalized. A child was also hospitalized, The Banner reported.
Meanwhile, Maryland court records show Billingsley served seven years in prison for a violent rape in 2013 in which he choked the victim and “forced her to perform oral sex on him.” He was on parole for that crime.
Wednesday, LaPere’s family paid tribute to the 26-year-old, who was “on her way to changing the world.”
“Pava has been an inspiration to so many people,” dad Frank LePere wrote on Facebook.
