Senator gets rail steamed

- Victor Nava

Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) threatened to have a far-left journalist “thrown off” an Amtrak train Monday after the lawmaker was asked about his resistance to calling for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war.

The Delaware Democrat was apparently riding in the quiet car of the locomotive when Grayzone reporter Aaron Mate, who was seated across from Coons, apologized for putting him “on the spot” and demanded to know why the senator hasn’t called for a “cease-fire in Gaza.”

“Who are you?” a confused-looking Coons asks the reporter, who filmed their interaction.

“This is a quiet car, and you’re not supposed to be talking to me,” the senator tells Mate after he identifies himself as a reporter.

Coons then appears to scan the train car aisle, looking for someone to help him get out of the adversarial interview.
