NCAA: Georgia tops CFP rankings

Georgia moved up to No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings Tuesday, nudging past Ohio State, with third-place Michigan and fourth-place Florida State holding their spots in the top four. Washington was fifth again, followed by Oregon, Texas and Alabama.

NHL: Jets beat reeling Devils

Kyle Connor scored twice and added an assist to propel the Jets to a 6-3 victory over the Devils in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Timo Meier, John Marino and Dawson Mercer scored for the Devils, which have lost three straight and four of their past five games.

NFL: Bills fire OC Dorsey

The Bills fired offensive coordinato­r Ken Dorsey a day after the three-time defending AFC East champions dropped to 5-5 to fall further out of the playoff picture following a sloppy, turnover-filled 24-22 loss to the Broncos.

Second-year quarterbac­ks coach Joe Brady takes over as interim coordinato­r.

● Texans linebacker Denzel Perryman has been suspended without pay for three games for repeatedly violating player safety rules during Sunday’s win over the Bengals.

MLB: Hyde, Schumaker mgrs. of year

Brandon Hyde was voted American League Manager of the Year on Tuesday night after guiding the Orioles to an ALbest 101 victories just two years after a 110loss season. Miami’s Skip Schumaker won the National League award in voting by the Baseball Writers’ Associatio­n of America.

● Padres owner Peter Seidler, who spent hundreds of millions of dollars trying to bring a long-elusive World Series championsh­ip to San Diego, died on Tuesday, the team announced. He was 63. A cause of death wasn’t disclosed.

NBA: Pacers end Philly’s win streak

Tyrese Haliburton had 33 points and 15 assists, and Obi Toppin chipped in 27 points as the Pacers beat the 76ers 132-126 in an NBA In-Season Tournament game to snap Philadelph­ia’s eight-game winning streak.

NCAA: No. 1 Kansas tops Kentucky

Hunter Dickinson had 27 points and 21 rebounds, and No. 1 Kansas outlasted No. 17 Kentucky for an 89-84 victory in the Champions Classic in Chicago.

In the first game, Caleb Foster scored 18 points as No. 9 Duke beat No. 18 Michigan State 74-65.

● In Champaign, Ill., Tyler Kolek shook off an ankle injury to score 24 points and No. 4 Marquette beat Illinois 71-64.

● In Omaha, Neb. Trey Alexander narrowly missed a triple-double with 23 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists as No. 8 Creighton held off Iowa 92-84.

● In Los Angeles, Justin Hohn scored 25 points as UC Irvine upset No. 16 USC, 70-60.

SOCCER: Hayes takes over USWNT

Chelsea’s Emma Hayes was formally named the new head coach of the U.S. women’s national team, but she won’t take over until May Financial terms of her contract were not made public, but U.S. Soccer said Hayes is set to become “the highest paid women’s soccer coach in the world.”
