DeRosa might give it a Cuo

-

WITH rumors swirling that former Gov. Andrew Cuomo could hatch a political comeback — possibly even as NYC mayor — we hear his past No. 2 has plans of her own to run.

While promoting her recent political tell-all, “What’s Left Unsaid: My Life at the Center of Power, Politics & Crisis,” Cuomo’s former top aide Melissa DeRosa has been fielding some questions about a political future — and seems to be more than leaving the door open.

DeRosa’s book defends her ousted former boss and dishes on Donald Trump, Mayor Eric Adams, New York Attorney General Letitia James and others. Reps for both James and Adams have fired back at DeRosa’s claims.

Cuomo’s chief of staff became a controversial household name during her boss’ infamous COVID-19 press conferences, and she’s since been an outspoken critic of Cuomo’s replacement, Gov. Kathy Hochul.

She affirmed her interest in public office during an interview with WCBS-TV’s Marcia Kramer this month about her book, saying, “I’m really disappointed in government right now — at every level. And I think about it a lot . . . I always thought at some point I may run for something. And the more and more I sort of separate myself from everything that happened, the more and more I think that could be a reality.”

She added, “I have more left to give . . . I think that public service is where we can do the most good.”

A political source told us, “DeRosa was included in a recent political poll that was in the field in the last few weeks.” They added, “She was the most powerful unelected person in New York state at age 34. She’d be crazy not to consider running.”

When reached for comment, DeRosa told Page Six, “Never say never.”

We previously reported that there has been speculation Cuomo could get support to run for mayor if Adams can’t continue in office, due to the federal and state investigations into his campaign’s fund-raising practices.
