‘Sanctuary’ for Thugs

-

Critics warned that President Biden’s let-’em-all-in border policies would pave the way for criminals to flood the nation. New Yorkers are starting feeling the pain, as a new mini crime wave adds to all the city’s other migrant problems.

A moped-riding gang made up of recent migrants has been preying on the public since November, cops say, responsible for at least 62 and possibly as many as 1 50 crimes.

The thugs swipe cellphones, grabbing info to hack into financial accounts. They’ve stolen hundreds of thousands in electronics. One member just dragged a 62-year-old woman down the street as he drove off with her purse.

Cops nabbed two of the group’s members, who then fingered 30-year-old Venezuelan migrant Victor Parra as their ringleader. The two were charged with grand larceny for stealing a moped, resisting arrest and stolen-property offenses. At least one more was expected to be arraigned Tuesday.

Other gangs focus on shoplifting, drugdealing and more — and don’t forget the “asylum-seeking” pimps and prostitutes.

News of the moped ring follows on the heels of the migrant attack on two cops.

New York’s consequence-free criminaljustice system makes the problem worse: Parra was freed by a judge in December after being hauled in for grand larceny; police sources say at least six others in the ring got sprung without bail despite grand larceny charges.

And Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg let the migrants linked to the cop attack walk bail-free; six or more high-tailed it out of state.

Bad enough that New York’s insanely generous treatment attracts more illegal migrants; worse that its soft-on-crime environment attracts criminal ones.

These people shouldn’t be here in the first place: Let them wait in line, like law-abiding would-be immigrants; get them thoroughly vetted.

Above all, let them live here only on condition they obey the law and remain productive members of society.

Being a “sanctuary city” for the world’s worst thugs is civic suicide.
