Machete prof gets $25,000 fundraise

- Deirdre Bardolf

That’ll add fuel to the fire. A fundraiser for disgraced, machete-wielding art professor Shellyne Rodriguez has collected over $25,000, despite a resurfaced video of her burning an American flag, and being sacked from her third teaching gig in a year for anti-Israel comments.

Rodriguez, 47, who infamously pulled a machete on Post reporter Reuven Fenton, is seen in the clip tossing Old Glory into a heap of already burning Israeli flags at a Fourth of July rally in Sunset Park in 2021.

The radical professor was fired from Hunter College and the School of Visual Arts in May after she held a machete to Fenton’s neck and followed him and a photographer with the weapon. “I’m gonna chop you up,” she threatened. Fenton was inquiring about a viral video showing Rodriguez cursing out a group of pro-life students.

Afterward, a fundraiser popped up to provide her “material support,” but it hadn’t seen any action in months — until The Post revealed last week that she was fired from her latest job at Cooper Union for making anti-Israel comments.

The fund was up to $25,589 as of Friday.

“This fund is organized by a committee of fellow educators, artists and community organizers who seek to provide material support to help Shellyne recover from the impact of this persecution,” the organizers, “SR Solidarity Committee,” wrote on the site.

Rodriguez did not respond to requests for comment.
