Teenage Migrant Shooter: A Times Square Tragedy
THE ISSUE: The arrest of the teen migrant who allegedly opened fire in a crowd in Times Square.
If Times Square is not safe then there is little hope for the rest of the city (“Times Square ‘cross’ hairs,” Feb. 10).
Times Square is the focal point for tourism. This kind of violent crime will deter visitors, who are a major contributor to the economy of the city. We need to assure the world that Times Square is safe from criminals.

So this 15-year-old migrant, Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa, let into this country by the Biden administration and lodging in a NYC shelter, somehow has the money to acquire a handgun to allegedly shoot at police?
They should drop this mook off at President Biden’s Delaware beach house so he can hang out with Hunter. America has really gone nuts. Peter Sulzicki Stratford, Conn.
The alleged teen shooter must not have realized he was in the Times Square Gun-Free
Zone. As of 2022, you can’t carry a gun in Times Square — unless you are a criminal, of course. Michael Reilly

Say whatever you want about former President Donald Trump: He is nasty, pompous, egotistical, a bully, etc. But he was right about migrants.
Not all of them are bad, but some have proven to be criminals. The teenager accused of shooting up Times Square is a perfect example. He was given a place to live in New York City, yet carried around an expensive firearm. Where is the outrage?
I voted for Trump twice and will vote for him again because we need to stop this mayhem. I don’t like the guy personally, but he is better than what we have.
I wish Trump would just shut up and let Biden’s policies do the talking. Tony Anastasio

The Venezuelan teen’s actions — allegedly shooting at cops and hitting an innocent bystander — is not shocking. Venezuela is one of the most violent countries in the world.
We have brought the problems of these countries to our shores. With millions of migrants arriving every year, and policies across the nation doing little to stop that influx, what will become of America? Susan Kerr
