LSU RB charged in La. with attempted murder

LSU running back Trey Holly turned himself in to the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office on Thursday and was charged with one count of attempted second-degree murder in connection with a Louisiana shooting that left two people injured, according to multiple reports.

The LSU football player was one of three arrests connected to the Feb. 9 shooting in Farmerville, La., where a man was shot once in his lower leg, and a woman was left in critical condition after she was shot three times.

Authorities concluded that three people fired multiple rounds after an early altercation that night.

Sheriff Dusty Gates told The Advocate he anticipated additional arrests in connection with the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.

Holly is also facing one count of aggravated criminal damage to property and one count of illegal use of a weapon, per the outlet.

He is being held on $512,000 bond, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported.

Holly has been suspended indefinitely by the football program, and the school said in a statement that it was aware of the arrest.

“We are aware that a student-athlete has been arrested in relation to a shooting in Union Parish,” the statement read. “This student-athlete has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities, in accordance with departmental policies.

“Out of respect for the judicial process, we will have no further comment.”

Holly rushed 11 times for 110 yards and one touchdown during the 2023 season and won SEC Freshman of the Week after a 91-yard rushing game on Oct. 21 against Army.

He joined LSU as a fourstar recruit.
