Lakers can get Clipped in last Battle of Los Angeles

- By KEVIN ROGERS actionnetwork.com

The final battle of Los Angeles in the regular season takes place on Wednesday night at Crypto.com Arena between the Lakers and Clippers.

Both teams are coming off losses on Sunday to Pacific Division foes. The Lakers fell to the Suns in Phoenix, 123113 despite LeBron James posting 28 points and 12 assists. The Kings tripped up the Clippers, 123-107, marking the sixth non-cover for L.A. in the last seven games.

The Lakers seek the season-series victory on Wednesday as they have taken two of the first three matchups. The Clippers captured the most recent meeting on Jan. 23 — a 127-116 home triumph as James missed the game with an injury.

Since a 9-1 run from mid-January through the start of February, the Clippers have gone through a roller-coaster ride by posting a 3-4 record over their last seven games.

Dating to mid-November, the Clippers have lost consecutive games only once, compiling an 11-1 record in their past 12 games off a defeat.

The Lakers, too, have been solid coming off of losses recently, winning six of seven off a setback since mid-January. The lone defeat during the stretch came in Atlanta with Anthony Davis sidelined.

The first two victories this season over the Clippers came by a combined eight points, including an overtime triumph in early November in which the Lakers rallied from a 19-point deficit.

The Clippers have found ways to bounce back off a loss and Wednesday should be no exception against the Lakers.

Let’s lay the points with the Clippers at home.

THE PLAY: Clippers, -4.5.
