Giants to meet with ex-Jags corner

- By JARED SCHWARTZ jschwartz@nypost.com

After the Giants met with Russell Wilson on Friday, they’re starting to look at players on the other side of the ball.

Free agent cornerback Darious Williams will meet with the team on Sunday, The Post confirmed.

The Giants have a significant hole to fill at cornerback as Adoree’ Jackson, the team’s top option at the position for the past three years, is a free agent. Jackson is unlikely to re-sign with the Giants.

Williams, who went undrafted in 2018, had a strong season with the Jaguars last year, recording four interceptions (returning one for a touchdown), 19 pass deflections and two forced fumbles. Pro Football Focus ranked Williams as the 13th-best cornerback last year with a 79.5 overall grade. He started all 17 games.

The Jaguars recently cut Williams, 30, though it was likely more of a cap-related decision rather than based on his performance, as the team cut a slew of veterans before placing the franchise tag on star edge rusher Josh Allen.

New Giants defensive coordinator Shane Bowen notably saw a lot of Williams, going against him twice a year the past two seasons as the Titans’ former defensive coordinator.

Williams began his career with the Ravens before spending three-plus seasons with the Rams. He signed a three-year deal worth $30 million with the Jaguars ahead of the 2022-23 season, and was cut with one season remaining on that contract.

Deonte Banks, whom the Giants drafted in the first round last year, is the top cornerback on the roster. Cor’Dale Flott and Tre Hawkins will be in the mix to fill Jackson’s void, as well.
