NBA: Gobert docked $100,000

The NBA fined Minnesota center Rudy Gobert $100,000 on Sunday, two days after he implied that referee Scott Foster was not calling games fairly and further suggesting that gambling is having a detrimenta­l impact on the outcome of games.

• In Los Angeles, Anthony Davis had 27 points, a season-high 25 rebounds and a career-high seven steals while leading the Lakers past the Timberwolv­es, 120-109.

• Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam each scored 20 points and the visiting Pacers beat Orlando 111-97 to close within a game of the Magic and 1 ¹/₂ of the Knicks in the Eastern Conference standings.

• In Los Angeles, Damian Lillard scored 16 of his 35 points in the fourth quarter of the Bucks’ 124-117 win over the shorthande­d Clippers, who were without Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

NHL: Torts suspended, fined $50K

Flyers coach John Tortorella was suspended for two games and fined $50,000 by the NHL for unprofessi­onal conduct directed at the officials by refusing to leave the bench area after issued a game misconduct.

Tortorella reluctantl­y left the bench Saturday night after receiving the game misconduct and a bench minor early in the Flyers’ 7-0 loss at Tampa Bay.

• In Raleigh, N.C., Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov each had a goal and two assists, powering Carolina past Calgary, 7-2, for the Hurricanes’ third consecutiv­e win.

NCAA: Rutgers smoked by Ohio St.

Roddy Gayle Jr. scored 14 points and Ohio State never trailed in a 73-51 romp over Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J. Clifford Omoruyi finished with 10 points before fouling out with 7:12 remaining in his final home game for the Scarlet Knights.

• In West Lafayette, Ind., Zach Edey had 25 points and 14 rebounds in his home finale, and No. 3 Purdue (28-3, 17-3 Big Ten) beat Wisconsin (19-12, 11-9), 78-70.

• In Washington, Aaron Clarke scored 27 points, including the game-winning jump shot with 18 seconds left in the second overtime, as seventh-seeded Stony Brook (19-14) knocked off No. 2 seed Drexel 91-88 in the CAA Tournament.

Stony Brook plays No. 3 seed Hofstra — who took out Delaware, 72-58, on Sunday — in the CAA semifinals on Monday.

In Deland, Fla., Jalen Blackmon scored a career-high 43 points, and Stetson defeated Austin Peay 94-91 to win the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

• In St. Louis, Tucker DeVries scored 27 points, and Drake defended its Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title for an NCAA berth with an 84-80 win over Indiana State despite blowing an 18-point lead.

• In High Point, N.C., Michael Christmas scored 18 points and fifth-seeded Longwood defeated No. 2 UNC Asheville 85-59 to win the Big South Conference Tournament and a spot in the NCAAs.

ETC.: USWNT claim Gold Cup

Lindsey Horan scored on a header off a well-placed lofted pass from Emily Fox in first-half stoppage time and the United States beat Brazil, 1-0, in San Diego to win the CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup. The USWNT lifted the trophy despite being stunned by Mexico in the group stage of the tournament.

• Scottie Scheffler rode his new putter to a five-stroke victory over Wyndham Clark at the Arnold Palmer Invitation­al in Orlando, Fla. Scheffler shot his lowest round of the week, a 6-under 66, to finish 15-under 273.
