Joe’s 2020 hindsight

Prez has deleted last elex’s ruinous plans on border

- ANDREW ARTHUR

TODAY, Joe Biden claims he can do nothing about the border crisis he created without Congress. That the problems he faces are all Donald Trump’s fault.

But visit Biden’s 2020 campaign website and its promises on immigration, and you see the truth:

Before the election, he promised to do exactly what he did: throw open our border to anyone.

After the election, he’s laughing at us.

The 2020 policy page was called “The Biden Plan for Securing Our Values As a Nation of Immigrants,” and web archives show it was full of promises about what candidate Joe Biden would do if elected president to reverse what he called “Trump’s misguided policies.”

‘Welcome immigrants’

Chief among those promises was to “End prolonged detention” and “enable migrants to live in dignity and safety while awaiting their court hearings.”

Ask Mayor Adams how that has worked out for New York.

“Trump has waged an unrelenting assault on our values and our history as a nation of immigrants,” the site says.

So instead, Biden promises to “Welcome immigrants in our communities.”

Which is exactly what he did, to the tune of more than 5 million illegal migrants.

But if you expect any regret on Biden’s part, keep hoping.

The Biden open borders plan has been memory-holed, deleted from his website. If you visit today, you’ll get a donation request and a joke: a cartoon of President Biden with glowing red eyes and a toothy grin, and a message telling you that “You Found Dark Brandon 2024 — Let’s Get You Back on the Rails and Buy My T-Shirt While You’re At It.”

Biden not only laughs at the financial and societal burden his policies are causing, he mocks its real dangers.

More than 890 migrants were found dead at the border in FY 2022 — an all-time record — and in the Border Patrol’s El Paso Sector alone, migrant deaths rose from 10 in 2020 to a reported 149 last year.

But deaths are far from the only tragedies experienced by migrants seeking to enter the United States illegally, lured here by the administration’s borderrelease policies.

Dangerous journey

At a congressional hearing last week, Democratic Rep. Lou Correa (Calif.) revealed that 80% of female migrants from Central America are either raped or sexually abused. Countless other migrants — young and old, male and female — are subject to other forms of assault.

I’m too jaded to think campaigns would still promote concepts like Reagan’s “It’s Morning in America,” George H.W. Bush’s “A Thousand Points of Light” or Bill Clinton’s “Bridge to the 21st Century.”

But how did we get to a diabolical meme hawking presidential merch?

‘Moral failings’

An\d again, this isn’t just any campaign offering — it’s the website on which the president-to-be previously spoke in florid terms about how various immigration policies of the then-Trump administration were “moral failings” and “national shames.”

In the best of circumstances, swapping soon-to-be failed immigration policies for “Dark Brandon” would simply be distasteful and beneath the office of the presidency.

Given the ongoing tragedies at the southwest border, however, it’s disturbingly unseemly.

Please, Mr. President — tear down this website.
