‘Sanctuary’ for Sex Offenders

The woke politicians behind “sanctuary” laws from New York to California have zero shame: Their cause trumps any danger to their constituents.

Witness the latest outrage in the border crisis, a Colombian sex offender let go to roam the streets of San Bernardino County rather than being deported.

Cali Assemblyman Bill Essayli thundered on X, “San Bernardino was FORCED” by the sanctuary-state law “to protect this pedophile.” Dead right. The California Values Act of 2017 forbids cops from asking about criminals’ immigration status, and from notifying ICE or Border Patrol when illegals who commit crimes get released from custody.

It’s as grim in New York. Yes, ICE managed to grab up for deportation most of the vicious thieves who robbed a Target and assaulted cops in Manhattan — and that’s great news. But it happened despite city law.

Gotham’s “sanctuary city” statute block cops from notifying ICE about illegal perps and even from honoring “detainers” (federal notifications to hold an individual, pending ICE’s decision to take them into custody).

That is: Lefties across the country haven’t only decided that illegal immigration and the crime and violence it brings must be encouraged, they’ve ordered a brazen middle finger to victims and the law-abiding.

For the open-borders left, it’s far more important that the inflows never cease, no matter how many rapists and murderers enter, and that illegal migrants face no real enforcement.

The message: Average Americans don’t matter, and anyone who says otherwise is a racist.

Voters won’t forget that in November.
