MLB: McCutchen swats 300th HR

Andrew McCutchen hit his 300th home run, Jack Suwinski had a grand slam and the Pirates defeated the Phillies, 9-2, Sunday in Philadelph­ia to gain a split of the four-game series.

The 37-year-old McCutchen, who played for the Phillies from 2019-21, drove a Ricardo Pinto slider into the left-field seats in the ninth inning for his first home run this season. He became the 13th player with 2,000 hits, 400 doubles, 45 triples, 300 homers and 200 stolen bases.

• In Baltimore, Jackson Holliday delivered his first big-league hit in the seventh inning, then scored the tiebreakin­g run to help the Orioles avoid a sweep with a 6-4 victory over the Brewers.

• In Toronto, José Berríos and two relievers combined on a two-hitter, Justin Turner had three hits and three RBIs and the Blue Jays beat the Rockies, 5-0, for their second shutout victory of the season.

• In Los Angeles, Jurickson Profar broke a seventh-inning tie with a three-run double as the Padres defeated the Dodgers, 6-3, to take two of three in their weekend series.

• In St. Petersburg, Fla., Amed Rosario and René Pinto homered off Blake Snell in his return to Tropicana Field, and the Rays beat the Giants, 9-4.

• In Boston, Masataka Yoshida hit his first homer of the season, one of three home runs by the Red Sox on their way to a 5-4 win over the Angels.

• In Oakland, Calif., Abraham Toro hit a go-ahead, two-run single in a six-run sixth inning, and the Athletics rallied from five runs down to beat the Nationals, 7-6, to win three straight series for the first time since 2021.
