Bravo’s new ‘cult’ following

-

BRAVO is really raiding the New York fashion scene for reality fodder lately.

In the past couple of years, J.Crew’s superstar of chic Jenna Lyons and streetwear brand Married to the Mob trailblazer Leah McSweeney have both appeared on the network’s “Real Housewives of New York City.”

Now Page Six hears that It-bag artist Rebecca Minkoff has been filming for the show, as well.

Sources tells us that, while the veteran designer has been shooting with the cast, it’s not yet clear — even to Bravo — how big a part she’ll play in the show. She may become a full member of the cast for next season, or she could be a recurring guest star on the reality staple.

But we’re told that news of her involvement is already fomenting disquiet in the Bravoverse. Minkoff is a longtime Scientologist and has many prominent friends in the controversial church. In fact, she has credited a famed follower of L. Ron Hubbard, Jenna Elfman, with kick-starting her career when the actress wore one of her shirts during a 2001 appearance on “The Tonight Show.”

But Minkoff — who made her fortune in the mid-aughts with her Morning After Bag, toted by stars of the era including Lauren Conrad, Hilary Duff and Hayden Panettiere — is something of a rarity in the church. Among the many boldface names associated with Scientology, Minkoff stands out because she’s willing to talk about it. “I’m totally open,” she told the New York Times in 2021 when asked why she hadn’t addressed her beliefs in her self-help book “Fearless.” “But it’s not my job to proselytize.” So we think it’s a safe bet that the church will be the subject of a screaming match or two when her appearances make it to air.

Meanwhile, we hear that a photograph of Minkoff posing at her LA store opening in 2015 with Danny Masterson — a fellow Scientologist, who starred on “That ’70s Show” and is now doing time for rape — is already being texted among show insiders.

Bravo declined to comment.
