Melania catches Cabin fever

-

MELANIA Trump made a return to the campaign trail on Saturday night at Mar-aLago, hosting an intimate power fund-raiser for the Log Cabin Republicans.

Among the 60 or so guests at the sold-out event, held in the Tea Room of the private Palm Beach, Fla., club, were Caitlyn Jenner, Dr. Mehmet Oz and Elizabeth Ailes , we hear, among other GOP notables.

Sources said tickets went for up to $50,000. Log Cabin pledged to use the funds primarily to help elect Donald Trump and other GOP candidates this year.

We hear that Ric Grenell — who served as Trump’s ambassador to Germany and as director of national intelligence, making him America’s first openly gay cabinet member — “presided over the event and introduced Mrs. Trump to the podium,” a source said.

Added an attendee, “Grenell unveiled [Melania’s] leadership role in what will be an unprecedented outreach initiative to gay and lesbian voters . . . the most significant of any Republican presidential candidate in American history.”

The co-chairs of the event — former president of the Intrepid Museum Bill White and his husband, Bryan Eure — “escorted Mrs. Trump into the room,” we hear.

White told Page Six in a statement: “The fact that our former (and future) First Lady Melania Trump chose Log Cabin’s LGBT event as her first campaign event speaks volumes about her, and negates so much we’ve all been fed in the MSM,” a Trump-favored term meaning “mainstream media.” Eure added that “gay voters are no longer one-issue voters — we got legally married almost 13 years ago . . . We are grateful to Melania Trump for her leadership, and we embrace her unity message to save our great country this November.”

Another insider told us that the former first lady was “so thrilled with the Log Cabin event, they hope to plan an even more grand one with her in the Hamptons this summer.”
