‘This is like pulling a scab off the wounds’

A television reporter who accused disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of masturbating in front of her ripped the decision to overturn his New York rape conviction Thursday.

“This is like pulling a scab off the wounds,” Lauren Sivan, a former anchor for News12 Long Island, told The Post. “I don’t think anyone was expecting this.”

Sivan alleged in 2017 that Weinstein cornered her inside Manhattan’s Cipriani restaurant, and when she rebuffed him he pleasured himself in front of her, telling her to “just stand there and be quiet.”

The Silence Breakers, a group of Weinstein accusers who banded together to report his misconduct, said the court decision was “profoundly unjust.”

“This ruling does not diminish the validity of our experiences or our truth; it’s merely a setback,” the group said in a statement.

Ashley Judd, one of the first actresses who came forward with allegations against Weinstein and sued him in 2018, also criticized the high court’s ruling.

“That is unfair to survivors,” she told New York Times reporter Jodi Kantor, whose reporting blew the lid off of Weinstein’s alleged behavior and jump-started the #MeToo movement. “We still live in our truth. And we know what happened.”

Sarah Ann Masse, another accuser of Weinstein — who has denied all claims against him — said the decision reopens a dark chapter for his alleged victims.

“Abusers are given chance after chance to get back to their ‘normal lives’ while survivors continue to suffer from a lack of support,” she said.
