Four peo­ple rob gas sta­tion at knife­point

Police are search­ing for four peo­ple who robbed a Ne­wark-area gas sta­tion at knife­point early Mon­day morn­ing.

The rob­bery hap­pened just be­fore 1 a.m. at the Exxon at 4600 Ogle­town-Stan­ton Road, east of Ne­wark, ac­cord­ing to Mas­ter Cpl. Michael Austin, a spokesman for Delaware State Police.

Two women en­tered the gas sta­tion and be­gan brows­ing the store as if they were look­ing to buy some­thing, Austin said. Mo­ments later, two men en­tered the store and con­fronted the sales clerk.

One man dis­played a knife, while the other im­plied he had a gun, Austin said.

The em­ployee “vaulted the counter” and ran out of the store, while the rob­bers took cash and cig­a­rettes, Austin said. No one was in­jured.

Police de­scribed the rob­bers only as two black men and two black women, all wear­ing dark clothes. The men had their faces cov­ered. They were last seen head­ing north on Har­mony Road.

Police did not re­lease any sur­veil­lance pho­tos.
